If you didn't think the natural world was cool enough already, watch
Barbara Block's Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) talk. Twenty minutes of awesomeness that gives you a good overview of the science of managing fish in the ocean, and the innovation that goes into figuring out how these animals make a living. One thing to keep in mind is that their project is designed to give us a better understanding of the niche of the organism, in addition to the population biology. Something that we'll be talking about in the future. Oh, and don't miss the remote sensing aspect here either. We have satellite imagery of the ocean, as well as data collected by our autonomous agents: fish, seals, and birds. Make sure to check out the
Tagging of Pacific Predators program as well.
